house warming gift basket

After a really long house hunt, my best friend and cousin finally have a place to call home. I'm so happy for them and excited to help turn it into their dream home. Although free labor is one of the best gifts you can give [and we've been dishing it out], I wanted to do something special for them. I remember how overwhelming it can feel to own your first home [especially a fixer upper] and the little things can add up. Here's just a few things I gathered that I thought I would've liked on our move in day.

"housewarming gift basket"

Everything pictured here except the drop cloth is from Target. They don't pay me unfortunately.

I included:

- a "dropcloth" [or an old tan curtain I found in the garage]
- a vanilla candle
- new lightbulbs

- spackle and patch kit
- downy unstoppables [ello dollar bin]
- goo gone
- screw and nail kit
- super glue
- multiple outlet plug
- foam brushes perfect for test pots of paint
- felt protective pads for furniture
- trash bags
- basket [complete with chew marks from a curious kitten]

It wasn't fancy but it was something nice for them to come home to and hopefully a nice resource for when they need that one odd thing. Oh and don't forget matches like I did! And for a little impromptu kitteh action:

And I'm working on like ten different projects this week and hope to bring you something new and exciting soon :)

  2. This housewarming basket is great! It's nice to have some of the essentials right there. You have enough to deal with when you're moving in!

  3. Great idea. All those little things that you don't think about until you are right in the thick of it.
